D A I S Y J A M E S | Project “Vandal”
We are proud to show you the result of one of the latest projects we did. In the souterrain of the renowned cafe Dudok in Rotterdam a new restaurant is taking shape. It will be named ‘Vandal’, and will be exploited by Floris van der Sluis. Well-known as the owner of ‘1NUL8’ which lies only a short walk away. We at D A I S Y J A M E S were excited to participate and were asked to design, create, and apply two ‘custom made’ street art style wallcovers, as well as to brighten op the toilets with two of our recent, but already very popular wallpapers: The Jumbo and The Wajang. The results can be seen above and, in our humble opinion, speak for themselves. Did you know ‘Vandal’ is the American word for street-artist? which is the theme of this restaurant, and inspired us in creating our wallcovers. This monumental building designed by Dudok and build between 1949-51, has been a integral part of the city of Rotterdam since its erection. It has housed a grand cafe for decades now, and the basement used to be home to a gym. Now though, Vandal is added to the cultural heritage of the city, and we hope it can remain a part of it for many years to come.
